Two Teenagers Water-Ski Across Lake Michigan
Yep, last week, two teenagers, Madelyn Hendrikse and Braden Dirkse, from Oostburg, Wisconsin skied from Oostburg (south of Sheboygan) to Silver Lake State Park (south of Ludington) here in Michigan. According to CNN, they wanted to do it before Madelyn went off to college at Grand Canyon University in Arizona ('cuz the water-skiing in Phoenix is probably not as good).
It only took them 2 and a half hours to go 62 miles across the lake. I say "only," but that's a long time on skis. And that's coming from a guy who has a tough time even getting out of the water on them.
This comes during the 50th anniversary celebration of Vic Jackson's trip across Lake Michigan in a bath-tub.
The best part is Madelyn's quote: "This journey has taught me that I can achieve anything in life that I set my mind towards," Hendrikse said. "If I can ski across Lake Michigan, I can do anything."
