I learned to always make a list of healthy items to eat, and to cook before I go to the grocery store. Not only does it save time, It helps you stick to your healthy eating plan. I picked up some great tips from webmd.com. Things like picking up whole wheat bread, pita pockets, English muffins, whole-grain flour tortillas. I like Thomas's whole wheat English muffins because they are crunchy when you toast them.
For meat and poultry, I always shop for skinless chicken (even though I do like to eat the skin) or turkey breasts, ground turkey, salmon, halibut, trout, and mackerel. I use less salt and enjoy sea salt. I also I pick up reduced sodium lunchmeat, mostly turkey and beef.
I also enjoy organic chicken, and bone broth. You can throw in fresh veggies too.
