We've all heard the saying, "you only get one chance at a first impression." According to New York Magazine, when it comes to the first moments after meeting somebody for the first time, people will size you up as either a friend or foe and determine how competent you are. People - always being so "judgey", right?

And Columbia University researcher Heidi Grant Halvorson says, when it comes to the psychology of first impressions,  “I think you can explain every psychological principle with The Simpsons,” As a matter of fact, Halvorson says all it takes are four favorite characters. In a nutshell, she says when you meet somebody potentially important, you want to come off more like Lisa Simpson than Homer.
