Temple Building Might Get Multi-Million Makeover
There it is, quietly on the corner of Cedar Street and Caesar E. Chavez Avenue in Old Town. The Temple Building.
What is quiet now was once an "in" place to go in the area, a nightclub that featured music, dancing and even some of the top touring national acts during the years the building was known as the Temple Club. The country super group Little Big Town even made a stop there on their way to Number 1 records and multiple award wins.
The building was erected in the early 1900's and over the years before it became a club, it housed different churches, and after the Temple Club, it became a co-working space for area artists.
Now, according to the Lansing State Journal, there could very well be a makeover and overhaul of the structure, provided that the plan is approved by the Lansing City Council. The project would cost around nine million dollars and would turn the Temple Building into a residential and retail space, with retail on the lower level and living spaces above. There are also plans to include a small parking structure.
