Starbucks Closing Stores Nationwide Today For Training
If you missed the news, Starbucks will be closing over 8,000 of their stores nationwide today for anti-bias training. According to a statement from Starbucks, the stores will be closing this afternoon and while they're closed, employees will go through a training program designed to address implicit bias, promote conscious inclusion, prevent discrimination and ensure everyone inside a Starbucks store feels safe and welcome. Over 175,000 employees will go through the training program today.
Starbucks faced criticism earlier this year after a video went viral that showed officers arresting two black men who asked to use the bathroom while waiting for a friend at a Philadelphia area store.
