9 Off-the-Beaten-Path Lansing Restaurants You Shouldn’t Forget About
As with most cities, the majority of Lansing restaurants are located along its main thoroughfares or clustered around shopping centers.
It's easy to forget about those hidden gems that are tucked away off the beaten path. Here are nine Lansing restaurants you might not pass by on a daily basis, but are definitely worth a visit.
Lucky's Hole in the Wall
Lucky's Hole in the Wall is on Baker Street, just off South Cedar in Lansing.
Those who've been to Lucky's call it a "dive" - meaning it in the best possible way. They heap praise on the restaurant's cocktails, and its fried chicken and wings are also favorites.
Harry's Place
Lansing doesn't have a lot of businesses that have been serving customers for more than 100 years - much less restaurants. But Harry's Place has been going strong since 1922.
It's well known for its all-you-can-eat fish dinners. Its pizzas are pretty well-regarded too.
Gregory's Soul Food
If you're looking for the driveway to Gregory's Soul Food on North Martin Luther King Boulevard in Lansing, you won't find it.
That's because the entrance is technically on the access road that connects MLK to North Grand River Avenue.

Do yourself a favor and give Gregory's a try if you haven't. I'd recommend the pork chop or, if you're really hungry, the "platter of bones" - a pork chop, a drumstick, and a couple wings (which are huge).
Ukai Hibachi Grill & Sushi Bar
Ukai Hibachi Grill & Sushi Bar is on Delta Commerce Drive, tucked in behind Buffalo Wild Wings on Lansing's west side.
It's been serving customers since 2007 and features twelve Teppan-style Hibachi grills.
The Smoke N' Pig BBQ
If you're near Lansing Mall, you're near The Smoke N' Pig BBQ. It's on Elmwood Road, basically right across from Best Buy.
For my money, Smoke N' Pig's 3 meat sampler is the way to go. Take your picks from among smoked brisket, ribs, turkey, pulled pork, wings and chicken.

Their sides are on point too - make sure to get some potato salad.
Ozone's Brewhouse
Ozone's Brewhouse is just off Turner Street in Lansing's Old Town.
Part brewery, part bar, part food truck with indoor and outdoor seating available - Ozone's has something for everybody.
Old Bag of Nails Pub
It's not the easiest to get to, and nearby parking always seems to be at a premium, but Old Bag of Nails Pub on Cascade Boulevard in Lansing is worth a stop sometime.
Tucked in behind the AC Hotel on East Michigan Avenue, Old Bag of Nails has some amazing selections. The seafood's the best though - including all-you-can-eat shrimp and chips on Wednesdays.
Hank's Cuisines
Hank's Cuisines is located on the corner of Willow and Robertson, not too far west of MLK Boulevard.
Hank's is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner - and every review I've read has nothing but complimentary things to say. Apparently the mac and cheese is "fire". May have to make this one my own next stop.
Westgate Tavern
Westgate Tavern is located on North Rosemary Street near West Saginaw - right where it splits into one-way travel with Oakland.
I've tried pizzas here, burgers, even breakfast - but my favorite thing to order is the perch dinner. Fried to perfection and oh so good.
