Michigan Couple Drives To All 3108 Counties in the Contiguous U.S.

Jonathan and Jennifer Riehl have already driven Jonathan's 1999 Dodge Intrepid in all 3108 counties of the contiguous United States. According to mlive.com, It took nine years and now the Intrepid has 540,000 miles on it - all on the original engine. Now, they want to drive through all the counties in Hawaii.

This is going to take some planning. And money.

But, they're smart people. Jonathan is an engineering professor at Michigan Tech and Jennifer is a geneticist who did all this while working on her doctorate. And, they're from the U.P, so everywhere they go is a long drive. They've set up a gofundme page to help with the expenses, with a detailed itinerary. First they have to drive to L.A., then ship their car to Hawaii. And then ship it to four of the five major Hawaiian Islands.

After this, they'll have to finish up visiting the counties in Alaska (they call them boroughs) that they haven't yet visited. So, you might see another GoFundMe page for something with four-wheel drive. And guns for the brown bears.
