What is it with Lansing and parking lots?

Lansing’s Infamous Parking Lot Problem

We all know that the Frandor parking lot is the parking lot from Hell. Whether it's from the fifth circle of anger or the seventh circle of violence, I'll leave that for you to decide.

And since we're talking about parking lots, we can't forget to mention the Horrocks parking lot—it's constantly busy, has tight turns and narrow driving lanes. Neither parking lot is one I'm excited about braving.

It’s Not Just Frandor and Horrocks

Well, I would like to submit another terrible parking lot to Lansing to consider: the Red Cedar Development parking lot.

I don't know who designed that thing, but I have a bone to pick with you.

When I go to patronize a business, I'd like to park near that business. I'm not saying I have to be right outside the door. But, I'd at least like to see the door... is that too much to ask?

Why the Red Cedar Lot Is So Frustrating

If you've ever tried to visit The Old Bag of Nails Pub, Dunk'd, Lansing Duckpin Bowling, Feng Cha Tea, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Toscana Italian Steakhouse, and more, then you've probably experienced what I'm talking about.

The Red Cedar Development is a mixed-use community, so in addition to businesses, there are also residents. What ends up happening is that all the parking spots next to the businesses—and there are very few parking spots to begin with—get filled up quickly because of the large amount of people in the space.

So, instead of being able to park near the businesses you're trying to patronize, you're left to park down a hill to an outer parking area and hoof it to and from the business.

I can't be the only one who has extreme disdain for this parking lot. Please add it to the list of things that somehow scream "Pure Lansing".

Things Lansing Needs That it Doesn't Have

When it comes to the city of Lansing, there are most certainly things about it that its residents love. I mean, why else would the hashtag, #LoveLansing exist if there wasn't some facet of the city that its people enjoyed? However, that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. We asked you what kind of businesses and services you'd like to have in Lansing. Check out the list below to find out what things Lansing needs that it doesn't have.

Lansing Restaurants That Should Be Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives

The Lansing restaurants listed below are gems of the city. If you haven't been to all of them yet, add them to your list. We think Guy Fieri should add them to his list as well so he can feature them the next time he comes back to Lansing for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
