Michigan Has Had Its Own Toxic Spills to Clean Up
I drive home north on U.S. 131 and nearly a month ago a tanker carrying thousands of gallons of fuel tipped over. The first reports said the cleanup would be done in 4 days and now weeks later crews are still out there removing soil.
There was another fuel hauler in West Michigan that turned over recently and let's not forget the train derailment that happened just outside of Detroit two weeks ago that was carrying some hazardous material that required cleanup.
I'm always glad to hear that these toxic spills get cleaned up, but it never dawned on me to think of where the soil and waste that go when it's cleaned up from a spill.

So far, 15 truckloads of toxic waste have been delivered to Republic Services in Romulus, Michigan, and this has several residents upset who live in the community.
According to WXYZ, Michigan residents do not want the toxic chemicals from Ohio stored in their backyards so they protested in Romulus on Sunday demanding the waste be removed.
