100.7 WITL’s Picks for the 2024 CMA Awards

It's called "Country Music's Biggest Night" - the evening that everyone finds out who wins this year's most coveted awards from the Country Music Association.

The CMA Awards air on ABC-TV on November 20, and here at 100.7 WITL, we'd like to think we've got an idea who might be walking away with some trophies.

JR and Kristen from the WITL Wake-Up Show have made their picks, as have midday hostess Jess on the Job, afternoon sensation Scott Clow, and Evan Paul from Taste of Country Nights. See if you agree!

Who will win the 2024 CMA Award for Entertainer of the Year?

Lainey Wilson took home "Entertainer of the Year" last year, and while she's nominated again this year, none of the WITL staff is looking for her to repeat. Not that she's not deserving, we just think the CMA might be looking to spread the love a little.

JR and Jess think this is Morgan Wallen's year to win the night's biggest award. Kristen and Evan are going with Jelly Roll. Scott's on his own in predicting Luke Combs to snag this one.

Who will win Single of the Year at the 2024 CMAs?

As opposed to "Song of the Year" which is awarded to the writers (we'll get to that one in a little bit), "Single of the Year" is awarded for the performance.

The WITL crew is split on this one, too. JR, Kristen and Evan all feel like this one could get Shaboozey his very first CMA award. Jess and Scott think Post Malone and Morgan Wallen have this one in the bag with "I Had Some Help".

Who will win Album of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards?

For a lot of artists, this is the one they'd most like to win. "Album of the Year" is a reflection of an artist's most recent body of work as a whole.

The WITL Wake-Up Show is united on this one, with JR and Kristen both picking Chris Stapleton's "Higher" album to be the winner. Jess, Scott and Evan are going with Jelly Roll's "Whitsitt Chapel".

Who will win the 2024 CMA Award for Song of the Year?

The general consensus among the WITL crew is that the writers for "I Had Some Help" are the most likely to walk away winners here - Kristen, Scott and Evan all think so.

Jess predicts Cody Johnson's "Dirt Cheap" will win this one, while JR's going with Chris Stapleton's "White Horse".

Who will be named Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards?

This one's unanimous. The whole WITL crew is going with Lainey.

What About the 2024 CMA Award for Male Vocalist of the Year?

The crew doesn't think this one's as cut-and-dried. Kristen, Scott and Evan think Chris Stapleton will win "Male Vocalist of the Year" for a record eighth time. JR's going with Jelly Roll, while Jess picks Morgan Wallen.

Who's expected to be named the 2024 CMA Vocal Group of the Year?

JR, Kristen, Jess and Evan all think Old Dominion's got a lock on the award for "Vocal Group of the Year". Lone wolf Scott picks Little Big Town.

Who will win the CMA Award for Vocal Duo of the Year?

Another no-brainer here as far as the WITL crew is concerned. This one goes to Dan + Shay, hands down.

Who gets the 2024 CMA for Musical Event of the Year?

"Musical Event of the Year" is awarded for a song performed by two or more acts that don't typically perform together.

Who will win Music Video of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards?

Cody Johnson's nominated twice in this category - once for "Dirt Cheap" (the one Jess and JR both think will win), and once for "The Painter" (Scott's pick). Kristen and Evan think this one will be another trophy for Lainey Wilson for "Wildflowers and Wild Horses".

Who Will Win New Artist of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards?

Six nominees for this one instead of the usual five. JR thinks Nate Smith wins this one. Jess and Evan are going with Megan Moroney, which could be a good strategy - she's the only female artist nominated here. Kristen and Scott think Shaboozey's going to be celebrating the win for "New Artist of the Year".
