Lansing’s Infamous ‘Truck-Eating’ Bridge is Now Google Official
The infamously short bridge across Pennsylvania Avenue in Lansing has been officially named and dubbed as a cultural landmark on Google Maps.
It feels like it was just yesterday when we talked about the Pennsylvania Avenue Bridge Big Penny claiming the roof of yet another vehicle that thought it was short enough to pass through... Well, it probably feels like that because it is like that.
Big Penny Bridge Eats Another Vehicle
In the month of July alone, the bridge has 'eaten' at least three vehicles, including the latest one it claimed today: an RV. Different from Big Penny's normal fare of 18-wheelers.
Not only has Big Penny claimed another vehicle, but she has a different title under her belt now, too.

Big Penny is now officially labeled as a 'cultural landmark' on Google Maps. Not only that, it's been dubbed the 'Truck Eating Bridge' by Google Maps too.
This cultural phenomenon has really taken on a life with its own. And the recent addition of eyes and teeth, Big Penny has really come to life.
Big Penny has her own Reddit, Facebook, and Instagram accounts.
Maybe all the notoriety this bridge is receiving will serve as some kind of wake up call for motorists who think they can fit underneath it's short passage. Because despite the numerous signs and lights letting drivers know that the bridge is only 12 feet tall.
Maybe one day. Until then, Big Penny HONGRY!
