It's been a year and a half since the August 21, 2017 total solar eclipse that wowed America. During that event, Michiganders had to travel to southern Indiana or Illinois if they wanted to be in the path of the total eclipse. Good news - we're getting another chance. And this time the eclipse is coming to Michigan.

Five years from yesterday (April 8th), a tiny slice of Michigan will see a total solar eclipse. Last time, the path of the eclipse in North America started in Oregon and moved southeast to the coast of South Carolina. This time the eclipse will start off the Pacific coast of Mexico and travel northeast, going through the middle of Maine and exiting North America at the coast of New Brunswick, Canada. In Lansing, we wont get a TOTAL eclipse, but we will get 96% totality (last time it was only 80%). It should reach us at 3:12PM. If you travel south and east to a point in Michigan just north of Toledo, you should be in the 100% zone.

April 8, 2024 is a Monday - so...three day weekend? Yes.
