Town-by-Town Mid-Michigan Snowfall Predictions for December 9-10, 2025
A wintry mix of snow and rain is expected across much of Lower Michigan late Tuesday night into Wednesday. Forecasts for how much precipitation can be expected vary wildly.
WILX News 10 Chief Meteorologist Darrin Rockcole says this storm is a particularly difficult one to predict with any reasonable expectation of accuracy.
What Local TV Forecasters Are Saying
"The computer models are all over the place," says Rockcole. "Your guess is as good as mine. We've got some computer models saying we wake up (Wednesday) morning to 6" or more of snow; others saying it will be a couple inches of slush."

Rockcole expects rain to mix with any snow Wednesday, which will tamp down accumulation totals.
What the National Weather Service Is Saying
Forecasters with the National Weather Service out of Grand Rapids think that most of Mid-Michigan will see around 2-3" of snow thanks to rain mixing in during the morning on Wednesday, with slightly lower totals along the I-94 corridor. Areas from the tip of The Thumb to Mt. Pleasant to Traverse City are under Winter Weather Advisories and could see 3-7" of snow.
What AccuWeather Is Saying
AccuWeather's snowfall projections are the ones that vary the most. Their forecasters think a large swath of Mid-Michigan from Portland to Lansing to Williamston could see 3-7" of snow, with lesser totals to the south.
