An Open Letter From a Short Person to the Tallest Person at the Concert
I had a fun opportunity to attend a concert the other night. The artist for the evening was Dierks Bentley and the venue was Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.
Now normally, I say that Van Andel doesn't have a bad seat in the house. However, that was not my experience the other night...
Short People Problems
I was standing there, in my spot, minding my own business when out of nowhere, the tallest person in the venue deciding that standing immediately in front of me would be the perfect place for him to take in the concert. As the shortest person at the concert (this is probably not a factual statement, but a hyperbole meant to demonstrate something that is actually true, because I'm a whopping 5'0"), this happens to me. Every. Single. Time.
Here's the tall guy in question. And this picture was taken exactly at my eye level, so this was the view I was working with.
Here's the deal, you can obviously stand wherever you'd like, but why is that you choose to stand right in front of me? And so consistently, too?

I had a great view of his shoulder blades.
This isn't a one off situation. This tall guy is a drop in a sea of tall guys who consistently find their way immediately in front of me. This is such a common occurrence for me that my friend I was at the show with, a fellow on-the-shorter-side person who also deals with these issues, literally burst out with laughter as he watched the events unfold.

Please, moving forward, can we make a pact that you will leave the square foot of space that I leave in front of me so that I can actually see the concert, alone? Kay, thanks.
