An Open Letter to the Michigan Driver Who Actually Used Their Turn Signal
As a Michigan driver, I’ve seen it all—people driving the wrong-way, slowpokes in the fast lane, and those brave souls who think red lights are merely a suggestion.
Or how about those drivers who have no idea what a turn signal is? I know that we've all dealt with this kind of driver at some point or another.

But this, this was different.
I have something I want to get off my chest about a driver I encountered the other day.

This is for the driver who needed to get over into the lane I was in. If you're not that driver, just use this open letter as a guideline moving forward.
To the driver I saw actually use their turn signal the other day—bless your heart. You were cruising southbound, right next to me on Michigan’s finest (ahem, questionable) freeway in the midst of construction... 127 southbound. Normally, I’m poised with my foot over the brake, braced for someone to cut me off, but you? You did the unthinkable.
You signaled!
You actually used your turn signal!
I mean, that little lever next to the steering wheel? You used it! And gave me enough time to let you over! It’s small gesture, but in the wild world of Michigan drivers, it was a game-changer. There was no slamming of the brakes, no use of hand gestures or the horn. It was just a pleasant experience.
Thank you, courteous Michigander! You made my day, and honestly, restored a bit of my driving faith.
