Pinecone-looking Brown Clumps in Christmas Trees Could Be Praying Mantis Nests

They aren't harmful to you on the off chance you do have one and it hatches in your home. It's more gross and annoying than anything. I mean... have you seen a picture of a baby praying mantis? It's kinda gross...
Just be sure to check you tree before decorating, when it will be a whole lot easier to spot. If you do find one, not to fret! You can keep the tree, just cut the branch it's on and place it in the yard somewhere safe for the praying mantis to hatch.
