So are you a big tipper?  I am a big tipper especially when the service is outstanding. And I think now we need to do it more then ever. 70 percent of Michigan diners say we are tipping more during the pandemic according to Eater Detroit.  Eater also says that in the spring, over 60 percent of folks said they would tip more now than they had prior to the pandemic.

I love a good tipping story. About 4 years ago when I was living in Tampa, a buddy of mine and I took a road trip to the Keys and we stopped at "Waffle House." We had the sweetest lady probably in her mid 60's waiting on us.

When we got check we paid by credit card and my pal said I'll pay the tip with cash.  He pulled a hundred dollar bill out and put under a plate. He said let's go. He did not want to see her reaction. We left but I could not resist, so I peaked in the window where she could not see me. The look on her face was priceless. He says he likes to do that once in a while. I thought it was so cool and told him whatever you give in this world I believe you get back 10 times.

Basically service workers should be tipped about 20 percent. I think if you are fortunate enough to be working and you have not been affected financially by the pandemic, it's a great way to give back by giving 25 percent or more.
