Check Your Fridge for This Produce Being Recalled in Michigan
Before you reach for that fresh produce in your crisper drawer, or those frozen veggies in the freezer, double-check that what you're about to eat isn't affected by this recent produce recall in Michigan.
A farm that produces organic carrots, Grimmway Farms, is doing a voluntary recall after potential E. coli contamination.
Carrot Recall in Affect in Michigan
According to the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), products made with the carrots from Grimmway Farms may be contaminated with E. coli, which "is a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people, and those with a weakened immune system."
Two different products are affected by this recall: organic whole carrots and organic baby carrots. However, these products were sold in various sizes and by various brands, including 365, Bunny Luv, Cal-Organic, Compliments, Full Circle, Good & Gather, GreenWise, Grimmway Farms, Marketside, Nature's Promise, O-Organic, President's Choice, Raley's, Simple Truth, Sprouts, Trader Joe's, Wegmans and Wholesome Pantry.

What's good is that these carrots are no longer available for sale, so you don't have to worry about buying them now. However, you definitely need to check your fridge and freezer.
The organic whole carrots don't have a best-if-used-by date printed on the bag, but they were available for purchase from August 14th through October 23rd. The organic baby carrots have a best-if-used-by date printed on the bags and best-by dates range from September 11th to November 12th.
