Not Again! Canadian Wildfire Smoke Likely to Return to Michigan

Michigan has had a brief respite from the smoke of the Canadian wildfires to our north and east for the past few days, but it appears that the much-needed break may be coming to an end.

If your vacation plans take you to Michigan's Upper Peninsula in the next week, you may want to prepare for the possibility of poor air quality at times, according to the experts at AccuWeather.com.

"We may see some air quality issues over the next few days across the Upper Midwest, especially the eastern Dakotas through Minnesota and northern Wisconsin and upper Michigan due to some of the lower level smoke from numerous fires burning across northern and northwestern Ontario," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Brett Anderson said.

Forecasters don't expect what's coming to be quite as severe as last week, when plumes of Canadian wildfire smoke reached into wide swaths of the United States and sent air quality numbers plummeting to dangerous and potentially hazardous levels.
