National Chain Restaurant That Closed All Michigan Locations Files Bankruptcy
It was recently that the last two locations of one restaurant in particular closed in Michigan. Now, that restaurant chain is faces additional issues.
Restaurants close all the time, but it's not always that those closures are indicative of a larger issue.
National Italian Restaurant Chain Files for Bankruptcy
Buca di Beppo closed a location in Utica and another in Livonia; the last of its Michigan locations in August 2024. And now we know that they've filed for bankruptcy.
According to NBC4, this Italian food chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August, siting that it owes anywhere from $15 - 50 million dollars to creditors.

Michigan isn't the only state to have locations close either. A location in Worthington, Ohio closed and the site and building sold. The site is set to be demolished to make way for a Chick-fil-A, which brought the property.
Buca di Beppo isn't the only national chain of something to file for bankruptcy or to close multiple (or all, in some cases) locations.
Rue21, a teen clothing store, closed all its locations in the last few months. So has Rite Aid and Big Lots.
Buca di Beppo had been a part of the Livonia, Michigan community for the last 25 years, so it was a pretty big shock when word broke that it was closing permanently.
At this time, only time will tell whether or not more locations of this Italian restaurant chain will close their doors.
