Rue21 is officially closing its doors.
Teen Clothing Store Rue21 is Closing
Rue21 is a Pennsylvania-based clothing retailer that specializes in teen apparel, and not only is it closing its Okemos and Jackson stores, its closing all its Michigan locations. In fact, it's closing all 540 locations across the country.
According to MLive, Rue21 recently filed for bankruptcy for the third time in 21 years, the first two occasions happening in 2003 and 2017.
I'm sure lots of people will be sad to see Rue21 go. I remember shopping there as a teen, and if I ever needed a graphic t-shirt for a concert, they were sure to have it.
Rue21 Closing All Michigan Locations
Michigan has 19 of the total 540 stores that are closing. Besides Okemos and Jackson, other locations include Allen Park, Auburn Hills, Birch Run, Flint Township, Port Huron, Kentwood, Grandville, Mount Pleasant, Norton Shores, Novi, Portage, Roseville, Saginaw Township, Taylor, Troy, Alpine Township, and Warren.
There's no word on exactly when the Okemos and Jackson locations will be closing. But all Rue21 locations will be closing in the next four to six weeks.
