Michigan Officials Want This Stolen State Park Sign Back — No Questions Asked
Michigan's Department of Natural Resources and Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park are asking for our help.
The sign for the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park (the Porkies) has been stolen.

An Iconic Sign Has Gone Missing From the Porkies
And we're not talking about any old, rinky-dink sign. We're talking about the iconic and HUGE sign that welcomes visitors to the Porcupine Mountains.

Someone or, perhaps more likely, a group of people managed to remove this giant sign from its support beams and steal it away in the dead of night.

When Was the Porcupine Mountains Sign Stolen?
The sign was stolen sometime between the night of Saturday, October 3, and the early morning hours of Sunday, October 4. And yes, I say stolen because it's highly unlikely the sign was damaged by rot or waves... screws and lag bolts were left behind. I don't think the waves would bother with unscrewing the sign first.

Yes, the authorities have been notified. However, the DNR and the Porkies have taken to social media to ask for help locating the sign. In fact, they say "NO QUESTIONS ASKED." That's how badly they want their sign back.
How to Report Information About the Missing Porkies Sign
If you have any information at all about the sign's location, you're asked to contact the Porcupine Mountains Park Headquarters at (906) 885-5275, ext. 0. Or, call Ontonagon County Sheriff's Department at (906) 884-4901.
Hopefully the sign can be located and restored to its rightful place soon.
