The first ever Major League Baseball "Players Weekend" will take place August 25th through the 27th. According to MLive.com, that weekend, MLB players will celebrate by wearing their nicknames on the back of their jerseys. Plus, they'll wear special caps and socks and (this is cool) they'll each get to wear a patch on their right sleeve with the name of a person or organization that helped them get to the major leagues.

The Tigers have already posted a Tweet with a photo of the jerseys they'll wear during that weekend (they'll be playing the White Sox in Chicago). Justin Verlander chose the nickname, "JV" (way to get creative Justin), but Mikie Mahtook chose the name Will Ferrell's character Brennan wanted to be called in the movie, "Step Brothers" - "Night Hawk". There's your clear winner.

A great idea all around - and bound to get better next year, once the players take some time to come up with some really good nicknames.
