I know, I know...you woke up this morning and heard a strange voice on the WITL Wake-Up Show. "Who is that?! What is that accent?!?" Questions I'm still asking myself after 20+ years on the radio.

Hey there, Y'all. I'm Ivy Lee. I'll be filling in for Kristen Matthews on the WITL Wake-Up Show while she’s on leave. Kristen will be back in a few weeks. Until then, I'll be hanging out with you in the mornings and keeping JR on track--I hope.

If you're wondering about the accent, I’m a resident of Rockingham County, Virginia, but grew up—for the most part—in Oklahoma. So, the accent is a mix of Okie/Hillbilly with a healthy dose of sarcasm and jaded misconceptions.

I DO have Michigan ties. My stepdaughter and her family live here. I’ve visited Lansing a few times—once on MSU graduation weekend, as my son-in-law is a MSU alumnus.

I’ve been doing radio stuff in some form or fashion since 1999. I spent a little over four years on the air with JR, and have had other amazing gigs in Virginia, Texas, Virginia again, and now here, albeit temporarily, in Lansing.

I’m a foodie, love to be outside, and I’m looking forward to exploring the area and learning more about Michigan—the Lansing area in particular. I’ll be sharing my Lansing/Michigan adventures with you here and I’m hoping you can help get them started:

What should the Redneck Southern Chick experience while she's in Michigan?

  • Can you tell me what is the best thing to do/see/eat in Lansing and the surrounding areas?
  • If you were experiencing Lansing as a newcomer, what would you want to do for the first time again?
  • What’s your favorite park?
  • Favorite attraction?
  • Favorite hot dog joint (because I hear that’s important around here).

Whatever you think I should eat, go see, try...you tell me what I should experience, and I’ll map it out. I’m going to be here until mid-May, so bring it on. Tell me over on the WITL app. Can’t wait to see where you’ll take me!
