I'm sorry, but when did this kind of behavior become acceptable?

Long story very short: I cannot use my washer and dryer at the moment and a decent amount of laundry needed to be done. So, I found myself at the laundromat.

It's not my first time at a laundromat. I know that just like every other public space, there's going to be a laundry list of different people I might encounter. However, never did I think this would happen.

Laundromat Etiquette 101

There I was, minding my own business, moving a load of towels from the dryer to the folding table when I noticed that a woman was folding clothes at her own table... barefoot! Completely barefoot—no shoes, no socks, nothing.

The inside of a laundromat. There are washers and dryers, someone's pile of clothes on a table, and a sign about laundromat use and etiquette.

Please tell me this is not normal laundromat behavior. And don't you dare tell me "only in Lansing" because that's not an excuse.

Just when I was prepared to let that go (let's be honest here, I had no choice but to accept it if I wanted to leave there with my clothes clean and dry), I ran into another issue, quite literally.

At one point when I left to restart a couple of dryers, I returned to my folding point to find that not only had someone sat their stuff on my table, but their stuff was touching mine. And I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that this man had the choice of three other completely empty tables nearby. But no, he had to use my table and the exact space I was using at that time.

Is It Me—or Is This Weird?

Is this behavior weird or am I being the weird one?

I just hope that this isn't everyone's experience at the laundromat...
