This weekend, up in the Soo, they'll be racing snowmobiles in the I-500 - possibly the biggest snowmobile race in the world. Says Linda Hoath of the Sault Ste. Marie Convention & Visitors Bureau, "It's like Daytona, but on ice."

Seriously - they go 500 miles on an oval ice track. The only oval 1 mile ice track made specifically for snowmobile racing. According to MLive.com, they spray 2 million gallons of water on the track to prepare it. Last year, the winning team finished in 9 hours and 49 minutes. The second place finishers were only 2.3 seconds behind them. And, they hit over 100MPH on the straightaways.

The race starts at 10AM Saturday, but if you leave now, you can still make the "Miss I-500" pageant at the Kewadin Casino, tonight at 6:30PM.

Dress warm.
