Rejoice Michigan – “Yooper” Is Now A Real Word

After a ten year effort to get the people at Merriam-Webster to recognize the residents of the Upper Peninsula, it was announced today that "yooper" is one of the 150 new words to be added to Merriam-Websters Collegiate Dictionary.

Congratulations, yoopers!
