Rain or Shine: A Milestone 5K for Mid-Michigan Families
A FIRST FOR RACING
It was a first for me and a first for the 25th annual Run for the House. It was my first 5K in Michigan and it was the first time the race started in the rain. But that didn’t stop the almost 700 participants from strapping on their running/walking/rucking shoes of choice and helping Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Michigan.

For those who may not know, Ronald McDonald Houses can be found in over 365 locations around the world and "...are a home away from home that provide comfort, support and resources to families who travel far from home for the medical care their child needs.” Lansing’s Run for the House is one of the events hosted by the local organization that helps fund the program that services over 200 families every year.

A LOT HAS CHANGED
Through sun, snow, and now rain, runners, walkers, and their families have been supporting this event for 25 years. The first race started in the driveway of the Ronald McDonald House itself and only had 25 participants. This year’s race was held on the campus MSUFCU, a beautiful part of Lansing. Joined by the clown himself, Ronald McDonald, and his friends Spiderman, Green Lantern, Mario, and Zeke the Wonder Dog, the day included a Kid’s Sprint, Kids 1-mile run, 5K, 10K, and Ruck.

BIG THANKS!
Thanks to all the participants, Lansing PD, Playmakers, Mountain Bike Michigan, and various MSU sports teams and clubs, MSUFCU staff volunteers, and of course the staff of the Ronald McDonald House Mid-Michigan for making a gray, cloudy, rainy day bright with hope for families.
