I think it's safe to say that not everybody has a place to hunt in Michigan. I'm lucky to have friends with acreage, fifteen minutes from my house. If I HAD To, I suppose I could drive 600 miles to hunt on my dad's (now my brother's) farm in Missouri. Other than that, my choices would be to lease private land, or hunt on state game lands.

OR, I could check out some of the DNR's HAP (Hunter Access Program) properties.Not everybody is totally on-board with this idea (some neighbors), but the landowners get paid and hunters get a place to hunt. Here's an article from the Battle Creek Enquirer about the program.
