Miss MI USA Taylor Hale of Detroit Wins 'Big Brother'

Just a few years after capturing the crown of Miss Michigan USA 2021, Taylor Hale has a new title to her impressive resume. Last night the West Bloomfield native was crowned the winner of Big Brother 24 and made history in the process.

The 27-year-old beauty queen from the Mitten state beat out Monte Taylor of Deleware and Matthew Tuner of Massachusets to win the title and the grand prize of $750,000 on the popular CBS reality show. She aced winning the title with an 8-1 jury vote from her fellow houseguests.

In addition, Hale took home an extra $50,000 after she was voted "America's Favorite Houseguest" by the show's viewers. This marked the first time the winner of Big Brother was also voted "Favorite Houseguest" in the history of the show, but that wasn't the biggest history-making moment for the show on air since 2000.

In winning the title, Taylor Hale has become the first Black female to be crowned champion of the reality show that follows a group of people living together in a house outfitted with 94 HD cameras and 113 microphones, recording their every move 24/7.

The road to winning the title wasn't always easy for Hale. She had actually faced eviction six times but was able to save herself from elimination each time. In her final plea to the jury, Hale appealed to her resilience and a sense of change saying,

"I'm challenging you, jury members, to choose persistence as a reason to win this game," she said. "Change the course of this game."

When asked about how it felt to win the season, Hale commented,

"This is like winning Miss Congeniality all over again, but there's a cash prize this time", she said referencing her Miss Congeniality win at Miss Michigan in 2021.

Her win makes Hale the 4th Big Brother winner from Michigan and the second in a row. Last year Kalamazoo native Xavier Prather. In 2008 Dearborn's Dan Gheesling won the big prize, and in 2016 Ulby's Nicole Franzel took the title.
