Have you seen the show Ugliest House in America on HGTV?

Each season, homes from different regions of the United States that are odd, unusual or downright ugly compete to be named the "Ugliest House in America". Each season's overall winner gets a $150,000 home makeover, courtesy of the show's producers.

Season 6 just debuted, featuring the "Great Lakes Region" on Episode 2. Three homes in Michigan went head-to-head in an effort to represent the region and move on in the competition, including an unusual home in DeWitt Township just north of Lansing.

Sam and Jennie, the newest owners of the so-called "UFO House" on East Clark Road in DeWitt Township, give viewers a tour of the home during Episode 2. It's a 3 bedroom, 3 bath mammoth of a house, with over 3,500 square feet of living space  - "space" being an unintended pun, because that's where it looks like the house may have come from.

A Closer Look at the 'UFO House'

"It has round walls, round windows; all the hallways are rounded," the couple explains. The rounded windows - many covered with custom rounded blinds - all curve outward, lending to the appearance of a typical UFO.

Even the countertops and shelving in the kitchen are rounded. Layered wallpaper adorns the rounded rec room. Beds can't be placed flush against the bedroom walls because of the unusual shape. The doorless bathroom is at the end of a rounded hallway.

Why the 'UFO House' Stood Out

Ugliest House in America subtitled the "UFO House" as "Close Encounters of the Worst Kind", a nod to the sci-fi 1970s aliens thriller "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". Its ugly appearance scored highly on the episode's "Ugly Meter", with high marks for bad function and surprise as well (the new homeowners found a huge bee nest in the walls shortly after moving in).

The Winning Home: Jenison's Shag Carpet Special

Unfortunately for Sam and Jennie, the "UFO House" was not selected as the Great Lakes Region representative to move on in the Season 6 competition for a makeover. That honor went to a home in Jenison, Michigan, just southwest of Grand Rapids.

The Jenison home has outdated shag carpet and ancient wallpaper on almost every surface throughout the house - including walls and ceilings and in some cases, even décor. Pretty sure most viewers would agree that the Jenison home was truly the most deserving to move forward - it's ugly.
