They say the apple never falls far from the tree.

That's indeed the case with Michigan's Keegan Jacko, who remembers watching his dad play lead guitar in a rock band when he was little. That's when the seed was planted. Keegan knew then that someday he wanted to be a performer too.

As Keegan got older, he found himself studying other performers - noting everything from their strumming patterns to their lyrical writing styles. He emulated what he liked, discarded what he didn't, and says that's what built him into the performer he's become today.

About Michigan Country Artist Keegan Jacko

If there's a such thing as a rock-pop-country blend, Keegan Jacko says that would be him.

"I have a tendency of getting lost in the music," he says. "When I’m performing and singing the lyrics you can tell that I wrote them or that I can feel it. I take everyone on a journey with me."

Keegan's journey has seen him collaborate with quite a few other Nashville up-and-comers (songwriter Jacob Hackworth and producer Andrew Baylis among them), and Keegan says he's taken something positive from every new relationship he's built with others in the music industry. He adds that for him, it's just the beginning.

"Every time you break a new ceiling, you’re at the bottom of the next," Keegan says. "There is always room to grow."

The Importance of Connecting With Fans

These days, Keegan Jacko is a semi-regular at Tin Roof in Detroit, where you'll frequently find him performing. He hopes to play music festivals around the country in the coming year, and has a goal of being added to an established artist's tour as an opener.

"The people that follow me on social media come out to my shows all the time. Sometimes it's crazy when you find out how much that people you've never met know about your life," he says. "I try to be as transparent with my fans as possible while also protecting my family the best I can. I try to be myself and hope that people will love me for it."

10 of the Best Country Songs for Karaoke

When it comes to karaoke, even if you don't have the greatest voice, you can still have a good time. Because the point isn't to have the best voice in the room. The point is to have a fun, shared experience with your fellow singers. In my opinion, a passionate performer makes for a way better evening than someone who happens to have a pretty voice. That being said, what songs are in your repertoire? We asked around to see what country songs you thought were the best for karaoke night. Take a look through the 10 best below, and perhaps you'll find something new to add to your lineup.
