Michigan’s Country Music Scene: Who Is Madison Olivia?
If not for Jolene Bisbee, Michigan country music fans might never have heard from Madison Olivia.
Jolene Bisbee is Madison's grandmother. "GranGran", as Madison calls her, pursued a singing career of her own back in the day, even opening shows for such country music legends as George Jones. Madison remembers accompanying Jolene to numerous concerts and watching her in the spotlight. It lit a fire in Madison, even as a young girl.
"Witnessing her pursuit of her dreams and the impact she had over her audience left a lasting mark on me. From that moment onward, I found myself hooked," says Madison.
About Michigan Country Artist Madison Olivia
Madison's a native of Flint, and credits her Michigan upbringing with helping her to develop a unique style.
"I think I wouldn’t be the artist I am today if it weren't for the upbringing I had here in the Great Lake State," she says. "Michigan’s unique blend of musical influences (country, pop, rock, blues and Motown soul) has absolutely left its mark on me and helped shape my sound and identity as a country music artist."

These days, Madison splits her time between Michigan and Nashville, where she routinely pens new material with other up-and-coming songwriters.
She considers one of the most important things to have is "the confidence to open up your heart and write what you feel, because those are the songs that are going to be relatable and resonate with listeners."
Madison Olivia Career Highlights (So Far)
2023 saw Madison open for country group Parmalee. She's shared a stage with Nelly already this year, and has opening slots slated with Dylan Scott and Kassi Ashton (among others) later this year. She's also made numerous appearances on Michigan TV and radio.
Madison says she's driven most by fans who find a connection in her music.
"When you get to see firsthand just how impactful your music can be, it's better than any paycheck, #1 spot, or Spotify playlist placement you could ever receive. And I truly mean that! You know, we don’t do this for fame or money - especially when you're an artist like me just starting out because there is no money!" she jokes.
