If you're a Michigan toddler parent, winter isn't just a season—it's a test of endurance.

Between the snow, the salt, the illnesses, and a little one who doesn't understand weather or consequences, there are certain things you're bound to do at least once before spring finally brings some relief.

Things All Michigan Toddler Parents Have to Do in the Winter

First: picking your child up from daycare early because they're sick. Again.

You'll get the call, look at the time, and immediately start doing mental calculations about fevers, sick days, and whether 100.1 "counts." Spoiler alert: it does. You'll arrive to find a perfectly happy child who only coughed once and ruined everyone's day.

Then there's the unplanned cleanup of melted snow. You tried to get your child's boots off. You really did. But toddlers are quick, slippery, and thrive on chaos.

Suddenly, they've run all over the house, leaving little salty footprints on the floors, the rugs, and possibly the couch.

Winter also means spending an inordinate amount of time bundling up your child. Snow pants. Coat. Hat. Mittens. Where's the other mitten? You finally get them bundled up like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man... and they announce they have to pee.

You'll also argue about the cold. Your child will insist they're not cold. You, being a much more seasoned Michigander, know this isn't true. Eventually, you'll let them go outside for five seconds so nature can prove you right.

And finally, you'll cancel plans because the roads are horrible and it's simply not worth it. You'll call it a "cozy day at home" while silently celebrating being able to stay in your pajamas and eat snacks.

If you relate to all of this, congratulations. You're not failing. You're just raising a toddler in Michigan.
