Michigan State Entomologists Part of New TV True Crime Series
This Saturday night at 7PM, Oxygen Media premieres a new true crime TV show called, Smiley Face Killers: The Hunt for Justice. The show will focus on some of the hundreds of "Smiley Face" deaths across the country since 1997, that were classified as accidental drownings. Retired NYPD Detective Kevin Gannon and his team of investigators think they were no accidents, but murders. The victims had a lot in common - young, college aged men who "drowned" after a night of partying. The "Smiley Face" part of the name refers to the fact that "smiley face' graffiti was always found near the victim's bodies.
According to our buddy, Nick, who's doing his graduate entomology work at Michigan State - on February 9th, the show visits State for an episode where the Entomology Department assists the investigation, which includes a death that occurred in west Michigan.
