Meridian Township Searching For Local Artist

Are you an artist or know of an artist that is down to create a local piece of art for their community? If so, you've come to the right place!

Meridian Township is on the search for an artist, designer, sculptor, etc., to create a sculpture for the Meridian Farmers Markets new, Marketplace on the Green.

Marketplace on the Green is located at 1995 Central Park Dr., and the art would be located in an area surrounding the Marketplace.

About the Project

The township is hoping to create a new "selfie destination." So, a place that attracts individuals who are on the hunt for the next best selfie spot. Newcomers or familiar faces will be able to snap a picture with the famous sculpture and share it on their social media with the hashtags #primemeridian and #lovelansing.

The sculpture must be identifiable and visible. It must also be durable enough to withstand Michigan weather and potential vandalism.

Project Information

If you are interested in designing a sculpture for the Meridian Farmers Market, you must be a current resident in Eaton, Clinton or Ingham counties. The current budget will not exceed $10,000. FOX47 says the budget will include the artist fee, installation, supplies and a few other expenses.

Artists may email up to five proposals to bids@meridian.mi.us or submit it by mail to Meridian Township Clerk Deborah Guthrie. All proposals must be in by 3:00 P.M., Thursday, May 20, 2021.
