Conserve Water Notice Called for East Lansing and Meridian Township
If you live in East Lansing or Meridian Township, be aware of a "conserve water notice" that went into effect this morning.
Nixle is a system that
provides an open communication forum that connect public safety, municipalities, schools, businesses and the communities they serve. Nixle enables real-time, two-way communication through text, email, voice messages, social media, and the Nixle mobile app.
And that's how I learned about the conserve water notice this morning.
Conserve Water Notice
If you're a customer of the East Lansing and Meridian Township Water System (ELMWSA), the water authority asks that you DO NOT do things that would use a lot of water. Like,
- Take a bath
- Do Laundry
- Wash Dishes
They also ask that if you need to shower to "limit the frequency and duration". This notice will be in place for the next 24 to 48 hours due to a water main break that occurred on Tuesday, January 10th.
Notice to East Lansing and Meridian Township
Because of this break, this also means that the ELMWSA was NOT able to treat water for drinking. If you need safe drinking water, the Lansing Board of Water & Light is supplying it in the meantime.
How do you know if this affects you? Check your water bill; if it says it comes from the City of East Lansing or Meridian Township, you're an ELMWSA customer.
The ELMWSA hopes to give customers an update on the progress of the water main break later today. Until then, stay safe and conserve water.
