Meet the U.P.’s Newest Michigan Lottery Millionaire
Yesterday, I explained the new rules for claiming big wins in the Michigan Lottery. After January 1st, you'll need to show your Social Security card PLUS photo ID to claim prizes above $600. I suggested you win this week so you don't have to go digging for your SS card.
It couldn't have worked out better for Adam Hansell, who won $4 million Sunday night on a scratch off ticket. According to MLive.com, Adam got his picture with his giant, fake check on Wednesday, downtown at Michigan Lottery headquarters.
Adam actually works at the store in Sault Ste. Marie where he bought the ticket (a $30 scratch off). He won $4 million, but he took the cash option of $2.5 million. He's only 24-years-old, so he'll has a great chance to really help himself (and his young son).
Congratulations, Adam! Here's the story.
