Meatless Meals: Best Vegan and Vegetarian Options in Lansing

I’ve been a vegetarian for over 30 years, and if it weren’t for occasionally eating cheese, I’d be vegan. Well, that and the fact that I’m not going to turn down a cookie even though it’s made with egg.

Altu’s Ethiopian Cuisine in Lansing - "Quality Ingredients, Tasty Meals, No Compromises". Lunch and dinner menus both feature vegetarian options.

Art’s Pub  Lansing - Can get vegan cheese on pizza and they have meat substitutes like meatless chicken.  Also have a homemade vegan ‘burger’ patty.

Babe’s Corner on Michigan Avenue in Lansing - Serving up ‘hoagies’ with meat, vegetarian or vegan, where “A Half is Hefty”.  They also have soft-serve ice cream, both regular or vegan.

Be on the lookout for Bangos to reopen.  It’s been a popular food truck which is in the process of sharing space with Strange Matter Coffee in downtown Lansing.  Be sure to try their Nasty Potatoes.

Bread Bites in Okemos - Mediterranean cuisine and bakery with great vegetarian options and organic cold pressed juices.`

Hong Kong in Lansing – Authentic Chinese food featuring a vegetarian menu and vegan options.

MI Vegan Food Truck based out of Holt –  You can find this all-vegan food truck around town.

Ozone Brewhouse in Lansing – Lots of “make mine vegan” options including their pizzas.

Sleepwalker in REO Town, Lansing – Although I didn’t see it on their menu, I know people who love their vegan pizza.

Soup Spoon - Huge, creative menu including some vegan favorites like the Ethiopian Vegan Stew.

Taste of Thai in East Lansing - Menu is clearly marked to let you know which can be made vegan.

Veg Head - in downtown Lansing – exclusively ‘plant-based’ food. Unique and tasty choices.

Veg-N in Lansing’s Old Town neighborhood – Plant-based fast food...with a drive-thru! Delicious food and yummy cookies.

Zaytoon in Lansing and Holt - Veggie Grape leaves, veggie combos and more.

Sweet Treats

Oh Mi Organics https://www.ohmiorganics.com/ with a store in St. Johns, but product available in other stores. Featuring chocolate that is gluten, dairy, soy and nut free…with quite a few vegan options - gluten, dairy, peanut, soy, and tree nut.

Park Lake Creamery in Bath -  with a good selection of vegan ice cream, coffee and chocolate.

Sweet Encounter Bakery and Café in downtown Lansing, with product in other stores. All items are gluten and peanut free…and there are some great vegan choices.
