Today marks the 10th annual Pretend To Be A Time Traveler Day, started in 2007 by a group of webcomic fans. Today, (or maybe tonight, when you go out) you're supposed to pick a time in history (past or future) learn all about it, or invent it, dress like people from that time would have  - and pretend you've gone through some sort of wormhole to arrive in the year 2017.

Rule #1 of Pretend To Be A Time Traveler Day?: STAY IN CHARACTER!

You should engage complete strangers in conversation, ask what year it is and then act surprised when they pull out their cellphones to report you to mental health professionals.

Probably the greatest (and maybe ONLY) "time-traveler" movie to come out of Michigan is "Somewhere in Time" from 1980. The movie was filmed, in part, at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island (there might be SOME people who didn't know that) and is set in the year 1912, so if you want to wow other Michiganians, that might be a good starting point. BTW - if you're really into that movie, each year the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island hosts a "Somewhere in Time" weekend. The next one will be happening the weekend of October 26th. Here are the details.
