Michigan’s Last BD’s Mongolian Grill Is Officially Closed

It's official: BD's Mongolian Grill is no longer in the state of Michigan.

Over the years, locations of BD's Mongolian Grill (Mongo for short) have been closing one after another.

The Okemos location closed in January 2018, the Ann Arbor location closed in June 2022, the Novi location closed in November 2023, the Dearborn location closed in March 2024, and the Flint location closed in October 2024.

When the Last BD's Mongolian Grill Closed in Michigan

The very last bastion of Mongo left in Michigan was located at 42089 Ford Road in Canton. However, that location has officially closed as well, marking the official departure of this once-popular restaurant chain from Michigan.

The official last day for the Canton location was February 5.

BD's Mongolian Grill was part of Michigan's restaurant landscape for 30 years, offering an Asian-fusion, build-your-own-bowl experience for diners.

Now, if you specifically want a BD's Mongolian Grill experience, you'll have to travel to Beavercreek, Ohio.

The former BD's Mongolian Grill in Flint reopened as Joe's Yummy Bowl Stir-Fry & Sushi in December 2025. It offers a similar style of build-your-own stir-fry bowls.

Flint is also home to Zumi Buffet Mongolian Buffet & Karaoke, which just opened on January 27, 2026. It features made-to-order grill bowls, sushi, and a private karaoke lounge.
