First there was former MSU quarterback Conner Cook going in the 2016 draft to the Oakland Raiders. Last week, just across the bay, the San Francisco 49ers signed former Spartan Brian Hoyer. Now, the speculation is - the 49ers may do a trade with Washington for ex-Michigan State QB Kirk Cousins.

That move would probably make Cousins the starting QB and Hoyer the backup. And that would free up the 49ers to draft some offensive linemen to give the Cousins some pass protection. One rumor "out there" this week was that the Cleveland Browns would trade for Cousins, but the unofficial word out of Cleveland is that the Browns don't want to pay Kirk's $24 million salary and give up the draft picks it would take to get him.

But - things could change. Cleveland REALLY needs a quarterback. Stay tuned.
