Over Labor Day weekend, Michigan got quite a show from the northern lights. If you were anywhere from Traverse City and north you saw the show. Good news - we might be into some more of that this tonight and into the weekend.

According to MLive, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Space Weather Prediction Center has issued a geomagnetic storm watch for the 48 hours starting tonight at 8pm. You need a Kp index of at least 5 to get the northern lights down into the lower peninsula. The Kp index will be 5 tonight and tomorrow into Saturday, the Kp index is 6. The weather will be better for us down here tonight, with rain forecast tomorrow night, but if you can get further north tomorrow night and maybe into Saturday night, (especially in the U.P.) you should see some breaks in the clouds - and with the higher Kp index, things are looking good for "up north".

Here's your chance. Get away from the trees and city lights and say a little prayer for some nice weather. Good luck, everybody.
