Haslett’s Own Matt Borland Will Be a NASCAR Crew Chief Again
According to Motorsport.com, Matt Borland, who was born in Big Rapids, but grew up in Haslett, will be the new crew chief for the No. 27 Sprint Cup (or whatever they're going to call it) car, driven by Paul Menard, next year. That announcement comes from Richard Childress Racing, where Matt will be reunited with his former co-worker Ryan Newman. Matt was Ryan's crew chief at Penske and for a brief time at Stewart-Haas Racing, where Matt was, most recently, vice-president of technology and oversaw the NASCAR and Formula 1 programs.
