It’s Back! A DeWitt Favorite Restaurant Has Returned After Over a Year
It's always a happy occasion when I get to report that a restaurant is opening. But, the fact that I get to report that a restaurant is re-opening... now that's a happy occasion!
Post Covid, restaurants have had a rough go of it. Between increased costs of operations and getting and maintaining staff, many restaurants had to close their doors.
Lansing Area Restaurant Closures
One restaurant that closed suddenly in June 2023 was Flap Jack in DeWitt.
Very suddenly, about 20 people were out of a job with Flap Jack closed.
Now, I'm happy to report that Flap Jack in DeWitt has reopened!
Flap Jack in DeWitt Has Reopened
The DeWitt location is under new management; Kasey Kesler and his mom, Camie. They took time to update the interior. Additionally, they brought back the old staff! Staff and patron alike think of 'family' when they think of this Flapjack, and it seems like the community is very happy for its reopening.

Flapjack reopened on Monday, November 5th, 2024, almost a year and a half after its closing.
Flap Jack is not the only area restaurant to reopen this year.
Airport Tavern and Steakhouse on North Grand River Avenue in Lansing abruptly closed in January 2024. They reopened for bar service only in April, followed by the reopening of the kitchen September.
It's great to see such a beloved business open back up in the community. I love that they brought back the old staff as well, and what's more, that the staff wanted to come back.
