The East Lansing Northern Tail Dog Park will be closed for this coming winter, starting December 2, 2018, through April 8, 2019.

East Lansing City officials stated that the reason for closing the dog park on Abbot Road is because of extensive wear and tear to the terrain, similar to what's happened in recent winters with frequent freeze-thaw periods, leaving the ground wet and muddy.

A year ago, the City of East Lansing did a lot of work to upgrade drainage at the dog park and get some grass growing there again, which required a lengthy closure of the park.

Sounds like the new plan is to close the East Lansing Northern Tail Dog Park every winter.

I did search for Lansing dog parks; you've still got options to take your pooch out to play if your yard isn't big enough to contain their level of energy.
