Some parts of Michigan are now officially dealing with moderate drought conditions. According to a report from the United States Drought Monitor, several counties in the thumb area are currently listed under the 'moderate drought' category. Closer to home, there are some counties in the Mid-Michigan area that are now listed under the 'abnormally dry' category (which is the lowest level on the chart). Those areas include the western part of Clinton County, the very northwestern part of Ingham County, the very northern part of Eaton County and all of Ionia County.
