Detroit Tigers pitcher Michael Fulmer has been named the American League Rookie of the year for 2016. And instead of pouring champagne, aboard a private jet, on the way to some island to celebrate, he's probably changing out a sewer line in Oklahoma. Because, according to the Free Press, even though he's making $500,000 a year now in the major leagues, he works in the off season as a plumber around Oklahoma City for a friend's uncle.

If Verlander gets traded, this guy will move into his slot. And, if anything goes wrong with the johns in the clubhouse, the Tigers won't have far to look.

"It’s a different kind of workout,” Fulmer said. “Digging out of 6-foot ditches all the time and shoveling quite a bit."
