One Foodie’s 10 Most Frequented Lansing Restaurants
Lansing has so many delicious restaurant options, but I will admit, there are some I tend to frequent more than others.
Delicious Lansing Area Restaurants
Now, I don't consider myself to be a food critic by any means, I just know what I like. And by taking some time to put together this list, it's very apparent that I like Asian food of all sorts.
However, my other food loves in life are well represented too—Mexican food, breakfast foods, sandwiches, smoked meats, and of course, always leave room for dessert.
Here's a look at the restaurants I frequent and the dishes I get. Bone Appetit!
Tasty Twist in East Lansing
I get small Twisters with Cap 'n Crunch cereal and strawberries. Tastes like breakfast and dessert all in one.
With Pablo's, it depends on what time of day I'm going. If I'm there for breakfast, I get the Chilaquiles. For dinner, I get the tacos Mexican-style (with onions and cilantro) with carnitas as the protein. I add avocado to those tacos and squeeze what is probably an obscene amount of lime juice on them.
Babe's Corner in Lansing
A half a Betty toasted. Sometimes the sundae special of the week, depending on the toppings.
Kimchi Box in East Lansing
I get the bibimbap with spicy pork, gochujang sauce, and add avocado.
Strange Matter Coffee Co in Lansing
Obviously I'm there to get coffee, I usually get the mocha, hot or cold depending on the temperature outside. And if I'm in the mood for something sweet to go with it, a little treat if you will, you can't go wrong with any of their donuts.
Charlie Kang's in East Lansing
I get the boneless chicken kkanpunggi; a Korean dish with a sweet and spicy sauce, served with pickled veggies and rice.
No Thai in East Lansing
I get the gang ped with chicken and the "weak sauce" level of spicy. Gang ped is a stir-fry dish that comes with eggplant, bell pepper, white onion, mushroom, with red curry sauce. I get mine no eggplant, add broccoli.
Soup Spoon Café in Lansing
Again, depends on the time of day I'm going... but for breakfast, I go with the seasonal pancakes if I want something sweet, or Tina's Bacon Bonanza breakfast sandwich for something savory (toasted sourdough with cherry-wood smoked bacon, over hard egg, lettuce, tomato and chipotle mayo.). For lunch, I love the salad/soup combo "Steams & Greens", with whatever soup du jour sounds good at the moment, and the garden "chef" salad with balsamic dressing.
Asian Buffet in Okemos
Since it's a buffet, there are lots of things I like. I love making a plate with just a little bit of everything, from appetizers (crab rangoon and dumplings) to sides (garlic green beans and lo mein) to mains (black pepper chicken and coconut chicken).
Barrio in East Lansing
This is where it gets a bit tricky because Barrio lets you build your own taco. But what I will say is, you can never go wrong with the stoner queso—cilantro lime rice queso—and the Marigold margarita (Hornitos Reposado, Orange Liqueur, strawberry-pear puree, lemonade).
Meat BBQ in Old Town
I love a good sandwich, and Meat has a great one; The Miyagi with Cheese: House Smoked Chicken, Asian BBQ, Jalapeno Slaw, Gouda, Grilled Pineapple, and Sriracha.
