American Hero and Last of the Crow War Chiefs Joe Medicine Crow Passes

According to the Billings Gazette, Joe Medicine Crow passed away on Sunday morning in. He was 102. (apparently my math was off in October when I thought he turned 103) 

And he was kinda a big deal.

Joe became the last of the Crow war chiefs in 1943 when he went off to Europe and World War II. To become a Crow war chief, one had to

1. Lead a war party.

2. Touch the enemy without killing him.

3. Take his weapon, and...

4. Steal his horses.

Joe did it all while fighting the Nazis. And that was AFTER he'd gotten his masters degree from the Univ. of Southern California.
